Diego
and Kirby
In January 2008, we had lost our female Boxer, Tie Girl to cancer. She was 12 years old. Then in May of 2009, we lost our male Boxer, Archie to failing back legs and all that comes with it. He was 13 years old. We were sure that we would need a long while before considering adoption again, but by the end of July, we had the Boxer bug.
My husband, myself and our son went to a Boxer Meet and Greet after I saw Kirby's mug on the Boxer Rescue website. I just had to meet him! And while we were there, my husband and son fell in love with Diego.
And so, on August 12th, we adopted them both and so happy we did. They play and sleep as if they have been together forever. Kirby and Diego are beautiful, intelligent, loving boys. Our home is complete again with the sounds of Boxer paws romping around. The sound of them breathing, their gentle kisses and their ability to melt your heart with a look and the tic toc wag of their tails. There is nothing else like it in the world.
So, thank you Boxer Rescue for being there and helping these beautiful creatures to find good homes. We are so in love with these two boys and you can bet they are spoiled and happy!

Capone
Hi, my name is Capone. Thank you so much St. Louis Boxer Rescue for finding me a great home. You guys ROCK! My foster mom Mary was way cool when I was staying with her and my forever mom says all the people at STL Boxer Rescue are angels. I think so too!
Here I am with my 2 boxer brothers (Joe and Cooper) on our couch during one of the few moments I sit still (that’s me in the middle). My sister (Sheba) is in the chair, she’s not real cuddly with us but she will play with me (well, she barks at me and I think that is playing).
My new home is awesome. We have our own couch — in fact, mom says it’s such a special dog couch, she won’t sit on it. My brothers and I have our own king size bed too. We even let mom and dad sleep on it with us, but they have to stay on the edge. We get the middle to stretch out.
I’ve made so many new friends because my brothers and I go to SW City Dog Park almost every day. I like anyone who will chase me! I have a particular fondness for Great Danes. I can jump over them when we’re playing. I really like the little dogs too ‘cause they make such funny little barks when they chase me around.
I hardly ever have to go in a crate because my mom works from home. When I do though, I go right in knowing it won’t be for very long. I was a little afraid at first and had some separation anxiety, especially when mom would leave but I feel so safe now, I know she or dad will be right back to let me out.
I had some problems with letting dad or mom touch my ears. My new doctor thinks maybe my former owners pinched them to discipline me. I don’t know what that means, but I know that I let dad and mom rub away on my ears now. It took a while, but I found out if feels really good!
My brothers are so awesome. Joe is my oldest brother and I love to curl up with him in front of the electric heater on cold evenings (mom says we hog all her heat). My brother Cooper and I play ALL THE TIME. We like to play keep away from each other or chase in the back yard. Sometimes we’ll play tug or fight over who sits on dad’s lap. It’s never a dull moment that’s for sure.
Anyway, I know I wouldn’t be this happy if it were not for St. Louis Boxer Rescue. Thanks so much for taking me in and caring for me until my forever mom and dad came along.
Nellie
This may be a little long, and, I'm writing this as a testimony of the joy in adopting an older Boxer. I have had Katie almost 2 years, now - she was 6-7 years old at the time I adopted her. She is a treasure, and, I wouldn't trade her for anything! I can't help but smile when I look at her.
When I first adopted her, she wasn't interested in attention, really. I guess whoever had her before didn't pay much attention to her. But, I couldn't keep my hands off of her, or keep from hugging her, and after some time, she began coming to me for attention. Also, she was "hand shy." It was heartbreaking to reach to pet her, and have her flinch, or shrink back. She doesn't do that, now.
She is unbelievably laid back. She doesn't jump around, or jump on people. And, her way of kissing, rather than licking, is to put her face close to people's and sniff a couple of times. She barks at me and a couple of my friends when she wants something. Other than that, she barks a little when she is playing, but, not often. Which brings me to her playing - she plays in that classic Boxer, adorable way, and is so much fun to watch, I think I enjoy taking her to the dog park just for that.
She recently had cysts removed from her legs. But, that was my choice. When younger dogs at the dog park played by biting at the legs of other dogs, I decided that it would be best for her to have them removed. Other than that, she has been healthy.
Whoever adopts an older, or senior Boxer, will be rewarded in so many ways, I couldn't even list them all.
Thank you, Boxer Rescue.
Sincerely, Roberta Williams
Ginger
My husband, Cory, was just looking around on the internet when he came upon the St. Louis Boxer Rescue web site one evening. All of a sudden, he practically jumped out of his seat and ran over to me with the laptop, "isn't she beautiful"?!, he said to me. As I looked at her picture I immediately fell in love with her. And, of course, once we read her story we knew that we had to have her. We filled out the online application right away and emailed Cindy. Within a couple of days Laurie McDonald had contacted us. Even though she couldn't make it to our house until later that week, we asked if it was okay to come to her. When we got to Laurie's house (Ginger's foster home) there were at least 7 Boxers total in her house, every last one of them so excited to see us. I was trying to pick out Ginger amongst the crowd, when I noticed one of them had come up and just sat in front of Cory looking up at him very sheepishly. It was Ginger. It was love at first sight! Before we even had the official okay that she was ours we were already purchasing things for her at home (new collar/leash, dog bowls, tags, etc.) Needless to say if they had said no, we would have been heartbroken. And on July 15, 2007 Boxer Rescue made our year. She has been a wonderful addition to our family, which already included one 11-year old Boxer, Toni.
Ginger bonded with our family almost immediately with her sweet and playful disposition. She even managed to bring out a little spunk that Toni had seemed to lose in her last days with us. Although she was already fairly well behaved, Ginger has currently almost finished training lessons from Vera Lukas, a well-known dog trainer in St. Louis. She likes following us around the house constantly, playing with her stuffed squeaky toys, and cuddling up with us at night.
Unfortunately we recently lost Toni to disease and old age, which has been one of the most difficult times in our lives. Ginger has been very sweet, showering us with plenty of sloppy Boxer kisses, filling our lives with joy and trying to mend the obvious hole in our hearts. This has made our recent loss almost bearable. We can't imagine what we would have done without her. We thank St. Louis Boxer Rescue for all the wonderful lives they save through their organization.

Nikki
We adopted Nikki, a beautiful fawn cuddle bug of a Boxer, on July 27, 2005. My wife, Brenda, and I like to say we did not choose Nikki, rather, Nikki chose us. We met her at an adoption event at the PetsMart on Chippewa and Kingshighway. I was playing with another one of the many wonderful dogs Boxer Rescue brought that day when I heard my wife call out behind me, "Honey, take a look at this." I turned around to see my wife sitting on the floor with Nikki leaning against her, looking up into my wife's eyes with the most loving expression on her face. I walked over to pet Nikki and she planted a huge sloppy wet kiss on my face. That was the moment of no return. I looked at my wife and said, "We're adopting her, aren't we?" She could only nod in happiness while holding back a fit of laughter at the drool dripping down my cheek. Ever since then, Nikki has waggled her nubbin and wiggle butted her way into our hearts. Nikki's foster family informed us she was a bit of a lap dog but we had no idea how right they were. Most nights, Nikki can be found draped across my or my wife's lap getting petted to her heart's content. She has provided constant love and laughter, especially laughter. You can only imagine the look on our faces the day we found Nikki sitting IN our windowsill so she could get a better look outside. She has been a huge blessing and wonderful addition to our family, even being included on our first family Christmas card! She melted our hearts from the first moment we laid eyes on her. Our lives, and our family, would not be the same without her. We love her with all of our heart. A big thanks to Boxer Rescue for providing so much love and support to these wonderful companions.
