Gretta
In loving memory of Gretta who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 23 August 2009
Today was a sad day at St. Louis Boxer Rescue when we lost Gretta, one of our foster dogs to a seizure disorder. Gretta was a beautiful, sweet girl who enjoyed playing with her dog buddies and getting lots of love and attention from the people in her life. We know that Gretta had not had the best life, especially during her time in a puppy mill, but we do know that during her time with us she enjoyed life, was well cared for, was shown lots of respect and was given LOTS of love.
Rest easy, sweet girl and know that we will all be looking for you at the Bridge!
~Love and kisses from Alicia, Bryan, Louisa, Kevin and all your other friends at STL Boxer Rescue~
Max
In loving memory of Max who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 29 April 2009
Today is a sad day for me as my beloved Max has passed away. He had been sick for some time now with heart and cancer problems and last night he went to his forever playground in Heaven with my first Boxer, Snowy. He truly meant the world to me and Maggie Mae, his Boxer friend. He was truly a special friend to me, his loving and loyal personality, and the endearing looks he gave to me with those big brown eyes of his, the endless fussing when he wanted something, following me everywhere I went and of course, the Boxer butt wiggles!!! That’s how he got he name from me; I came home one day and his nubby tail was wagging so fast that I looked down and told him he had maximum butt wiggle!!! From that day on he was Max!!!
I knew that in getting an older Boxer it meant less time to spend before he would leave me but once I met Max for the first time I knew he was very special and that no matter how quickly our time together went by, I would always have wonderful loving memories of our time together. Two times that will always be priceless to me, he would always greet me in the mornings with the same level of enthusiasm as when I came home from work with his tail wagging away and the other was he always loved his neck to be scratched. Once while scratching his neck he tried to help me by lifting his back leg up to scratch his neck as well and when I started scratching both sides at the same time he tried to lift both his back legs at the same time and fell square on his butt!!!! Priceless!!!!
Max, please rest my sweet man knowing that while you were with us we shared enough love to last a lifetime and you will be missed but at some point our paths will cross again. Until that time, Maggie Mae and Daddy will miss you tremendously. Thank you for all of the love that you had given to us while you were with us and for having such a big loving and loyal heart and thank you for prancing into my life and stealing my heart and finally thank you for just being you !!! My sweet, sweet loving friend.

Brandy
In loving memory of Brandy who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 23 August 2008.
Even though I only had Brandy for four years, it seemed a life time and she made my family complete. She was shy, quirky, funny and she communicated everything through those big brown eyes. The girls used to say she looked so pretty and it looked like she had eye liner on. And, watch out when a thunderstorm came along because no matter what, if you were on the bed, couch or toilet (just kidding) she was going to sit as close to you as she could or on top of you. My heart aches for her every day. Bandit misses you, the girls miss you and I miss and love you so very much. Sorry Bran, but Duke doesn't miss anyone so please forgive him for that. - Christine and family
Erin
In loving memory of Erin who crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 12 April 2008
There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of Erin. Her sweet, gentle spirit, her tiny gentle kisses, her huge smile and her strong will to survive will always be remembered in my heart. Our two years together were short yet I feel blessed for the time we did have. Erin gave me much joy and I will always, always remember her with a smile. She was well loved and is greatly missed by all. Wait for me near the Bridge, sweet baby. - Cindy
Lacey
In loving memory of Lacey who went to the Rainbow Bridge on November 16, 2007.
Lacey came into rescue around 2000 as a stray picked in the worst part of St. Louis city. She was literally a bag of bones with skin draping on her bones. Her jaw had been broken and never repaired. She had one ear up, one ear down, one blue eye, one brown eye, and black spotted skin under her thin white coat. What a sight to behold! Dr. Tom didn't give her much chance for survival. But that put up a challenge to be reckoned with!!!!!!!!! Six months after she came to my house, I took her to a horse show with me in Des Moines, Iowa. Next to the fairgrounds was a huge field of yellow dandelions. I took a picture of her sitting up in that field (what a picture!!) and when I showed to Dr. Tom and staff they didn't recognize her! Shows you what lots of love and TLC can do!
Lacey was one of my very first fosters many, many years ago. I knew at once when she came to my house that she and I were meant for each other. God has never created a more gentle, kind and loving Boxer girl - ever. While others in our little pack rushed to get a treat or attention or food at mealtime, Lacey always sat quietly in the back waiting her turn - never demanding, always appreciative of what she got. Since her jaw had been broken she had more of a scrunched nose than most boxers and could only eat or lap water from the left side and had a permanent cracked smile. Her snoring shook the walls at night! But when she started that Boxer wiggle when you came in the door and looked at you wth the twinkle in her eyes you couldn't help but love her to death.
Lacey always welcomed other fosters into the house - never a growl or a nip! Always sharing her home.
Lacey went to the Rainbow Bridge after a number of health issues, the last one bone cancer. She was around 9 years old, but still very puppy at times. I feel her loss everyday.
I received a call today, December 17th, that her ashes were ready to pick up. How wonderful, she'll be home for Christmas and forever.
