Description:Update 8/12/2010:Moses has now been neutered and is doing great in his new foster home. He has gained weight, but is still lean at 61 lb, so he may be over 70 lb by the time he's gained some weight and filled in with muscle. Moses's only physical issue now is some abrasions between his left eye & ear that are healing fine, but may leave little bald patches. This is cosmetic only, and he is currently on a topical steriod to promote hair re-growth.
Moses is having a great time playing with his foster brother, and loves to wrestle and run. He is pretty laid back too, and very responsive to commands. He already knows "sit", "down" and "shake", and can catch treats in his mouth like a pro!
He seems to be completely house trained, but we are still working on his crate training - he is not keen to be crated, and works himself into a bit of a frenzy. He has started going to lay in his open crate during the day though, so is starting to get over his crate anxieties. He also needs to gain some confidence in public, as he is very unsure of new dogs, and a bit snarly. Once introduced slowly and properly though, he is good friends with other dogs, and very playfull. He is very affectionate and eager to please, has good house manners, and would love a family to call his own.
Say hello to Moses!!
Moses is a VERY handsome young fawn Boxer boy with naturally floppy ears and a docked tail. We're estimating his age to be 1 1/2 years old. At 56 lb, Moses is underweight.
Moses had been found as a stray and taken to animal control. When no one came to claim him, St. Louis Boxer Rescue took him into our care. Moses was very well behaved when he visited Dr. Tim. He was poked and prodded and never complained. Though Moses is in pretty good shape, he is being treated for kennel cough and a mild case of Ehrlichia, which is a tick borne disease that is easily treated with Doxycycline. He is now up to date on his vaccines, been heartworm tested (negative), dewormed and microchipped. He is scheduled to be neutered soon. This is one sweet boy that seems to know a few basic commands. Here's what his foster mom has to say: "I need a family to love - one that would let me be included in their life. I am calm, gentle, and loving. I am sad when I can't be with people. I would love to jump up on the couch and snuggle with you, if you would let me. If you tell me to, I will stay down. I don't bark much - even when the other dogs do - only if I need to warn you. I am housebroken, walk well on my lead, but I am still working on that crate business - I will go in it to lie down but I don't yet like the door closed. Please give me a permanent home. You won't be sorry.".
