Description: Update 6/22/2010: Sawyer has now started his heartworm treatment and is doing very well. He is an affectionate and loving little boy who hates to be too far from your side. He is fully housetrained, and crate trained. He also LIVES to play, and thinks everything is one big, fun game! Fetch, run, wrestle, he can find 101 ways to amuse himself and exhaust his foster sister! The hardest part of his heartworm treatment is keeping him calm and quiet, because he is 100% play, almost 100% of the time.
He doesn't seem to have had much structure or guidence in his former life, but is learning commands and manners well, and also how to play without being such a bulldozer! He would love a home with another highly active large dog to play with, but would probably annoy an older or smaller dog very quickly. He is still very much a big puppy, and with some structure and obedience training, he will be a great companion.
Original Posting: Sawyer is a VERY handsome fawn Boxer boy with naturally floppy ears and a docked tail. He is approximately 1.5 years old and is 58 lb. Unfortunately, Sawyer is heartworm positive and will need to undergo treatment for the disease before being adopted.
Sawyer had been found as a stray in the county and when no one came to claim him, we were called. This is one cool Boxer! He's handsome and is VERY sweet. He has tons of energy and appears to be very smart. As we learn more about Sawyer, we will update here. We will add more photos of Sawyer later this week.
Securely fenced yard only. St. Louis and surrounding areas within 50 miles only. We do reference checks. Home visit required prior to adoption. $250.00 adoption fee.
